Brief

I have chosen the 3D character brief and will develop Aggressive and brutish antagonist based loosely on Celtic culture.

I chose this brief because it is tailored to the type of role i wish to work in (3D characters for games).

While studying some job roles, I have identified the areas that I will need to practice:
- Improve my anatomy and character designs
-Modeling and texturing characters (light, shade, color and detail in creating texture maps) using Maya, ZBrush and Photoshop
-Improve my High to low poly model pipeline

Develop and Produce a character intended for use in a modern console computer game.

Brief Digest:

You are to conceive and design a character suitable for an action/adventure game - you are then to develop and produce two high quality models of the same character - 1 low poly for a mobile game engine and 1 high poly for a modern console engine.

You are to include a simple rig for the models so that they may be posed.

The high poly model must have a total texture memory footprint of 4096x4096 and Poly limit of 10,000 triangles

The low poly model must have a total texture memory footprint of 1024x1024 and Poly limit of 2000 triangles

The Concept:

Your client is developing an action/adventure game set in a fully realised world. They have outsourced most of the art assets to external companies. They would like you to develop the lead character and to produce the model.

Choose from one of the following character archetypes (these can be male or female):

·         Naturalistic and agile hero warrior based on the ancient Mayan culture.
·         Aggressive and brutish antagonist based loosely on Celtic culture.
·         Peaceful and progressive shamanistic ‘elder’ figure based on ‘futuristic’ technology.

The Purpose

Build a reliable and deep resource of imagery and influences.
Develop concept work which describes exactly how the character will look
Build, sculpt, model, texture and rig a high and low poly version of the character
Create a 360 degree turntable movie clip of the posed models.
     Manage project workloads.
